The effects of being understood when dealing with a chronic illness is so mentally beneficial!
I got to a point that I was so frustrated and felt beat down by the lack of compassion and understanding about my disease. It is especially cruel when it comes from the medical field. I was gaslit, made out to be crazy, and felt ashamed of something that I could not control! I am sure you have all been there. Eventually I read The Sensitive Patient's Healing Guide by Neil Nathan, MD. I really felt like my world changed after that. There are people out there that understand! I became strong and realized that I had nothing to be ashamed of, and people can't talk to me the way they have in the past, or at least it doesn't bother me the way it used to. Have any of you gotten to the point that you are now validated enough to move out of that awful mental state of being exhausted by the constant denial from people you are hoping will help you?
